2006 WPSA Champion Robbie Malinoski and Boss Racing accept the challenge

Press Release –

Yamaha will return to snocross for the 2006/2007 World Power Sports Association (WPSA) national series with a factory supported effort competing in the Pro Open Class.

Yamaha has signed Boss Racing and superstar Robbie Malinoski, 2006 WPSA Pro Stock and Pro Open champion, to pilot its Nytro based, 3 cylinder, 4-stroke snocross Open Class sleds for this race season.

“We wanted a top-tier national driver to lead our testing program,” commented Yamaha Snowmobile Race Manager Greg Marier. “Robbie is a proven champion willing to take on the 4 stroke challenge in snocross. That’s exactly the attitude we wanted for the program. Our goals this year are simple: we want to prove our 4-stroke sled has the performance to be competitive, and we will use our snocross experience to improve future Yamaha snowmobiles.”

Also making a North American comeback is veteran racer and 2006 Japanese National Snocross Champion Yuji Nakazawa. Both racers will work out of the Yamaha / Boss Racing trailer, providing their engineering support team with constant feedback on the 4 stroke test sleds.

“We are aware of the hard work ahead,” added Marier. “But Yamaha has the courage to take the 4-stroke challenge to the highest level of sno-cross racing.”
