A New Rotax?

You can be sure anything Ski-Doo releases will be 2-stroke and most definitely Semi-or Direct (E-Tec) injected.

We think the now six-year-old Series III, cylinder reed Power Tek 800 is most likely to be replaced.

We look for a counterbalanced, SDI or E-Tec injected engine using modular (siamesed) cylinders, a stouter crank and eRAVE, electronically controlled, staged exhaust guillotines.

This engine would offer better fuel economy, much smoother operation, improved clutch durability and a bump in horsepower to the low 140’s.

It’s possible Ski-Doo could cant this motor rearward and use common side (upper side) intake and exhaust, similar to the 800cc rotary valve Sea-Doo SDI twin.

This, of course, would enhance the brand’s centralized mass focus and allow for tighter packaging under the hood of a next generation REV.
