BRP XP-R CARBON LIGHT HELMET LINE EXPANDED

0

When it comes to lightweight helmets nothing matches the BRP XP-R Carbon Light which is 25% lighter than all other helmets in its category.

New this year will be two more colors, Blaze and Bronze, to compliment the popular Black.

The XP-R features Multi Directional Carbon Fiber (MDCF) construction using carbon and aramid fibers to form a super lightweight, yet extremely strong shell with the weight of a size large at about 1275g.

A tool less multi adjustable wide front peak incorporates an anti reflection sticker on the underside to reduce glare.

A large flexible nose deflector is included with each helmet for great wind protection and the integrated rear fin helps with stability at speed.

The surround comfort sanitized liner features Coolmax moisture wicking action which is removable for easy washing, and the Morpho System Plus ergonomic 3D cheek pads are removable, washable and available in different sizes to customize your fit.

With ten ventilation points, air flow through the helmet to keep you cool is a sure thing.

QRS QUICK CHANGE BRP CLUTCH KIT

0

BRP will be offering a new QRS quick change secondary clutch kit for those riders looking to fine tune their sleds more easily.

The new kit also provides great value because it uses some existing parts allowing it to be priced very competitively.

Called the Floating QRS Short Shaft Conversion kit, it allows removal of the secondary clutch without removing the countershaft and makes changing helixes and springs faster and easier.

Now you can make a change to your clutch calibration and be testing it minutes later. Riders looking to squeeze the most performance possible from their snowmobile will appreciate this kit the most.

Included are all the parts needed: gun drilled lightweight countershaft, fixed clutch half, bearing mount, bearing and all hardware.

When installing the kit, the sliding half, spring and helix are re-used so the current calibration remains the same until the rider decides to change it.

Kit fits 600 Sport, 600 E-TEC, 800 P-TEK, and 800 E-TEC engines

Is rMotion Really True Rising Rate?

0

True rising rate? Whatever. In our books it’s all about the ride.

We discovered on our day-long blasts at both insane speeds and trail cruising velocities, the rMotion is competent at both disciplines with little, if any, adjustment required.

To date, we haven’t seen a suspension with such a broad range of plush impact response.

The secret lies in a number of elements. Most notably, in a late coupling moment combined with a rapid rise in shock rate as the skid compresses.

This late coupling moment provides an incredibly plush response to irritating stuff common on Saturday afternoon trails.

With the coupling moment moved later in the suspension’s stroke there’s another element of rideability added the current SC-5 cannot produce: Weight transfer on exit from corners.

For the past dozen years, weight transfer and resulting inside ski-lift on turn exit has been controlled by hard coupling, producing a level and flat response to turns.

Uncoupling the skid would, at first glance, infer the sled might stand up and wheelie on exit, increasing inside ski lift.

Why doesn’t the rMotion produce this response? It’s all about the skidframe’s front (torque) arm.

The rMotion uses the longest front arm we’ve seen on a sled. So long is this torque arm it actually intersects the rails at a point that’s more than 50-percent back from the rail tips!

This long front arm provides an amazing degree of control over ski-lift, control the pilot can modulate with his or her right thumb.

You can make it pull heroic wheelies, but only when you want them. This means the rMotion gives a vastly improved small and big bump ride, with less coupling, without increasing ride height, with more weight transfer and with the ability to control the weight transfer more precisely.

Drop By and Visit Us While You’re There!

We’re at Hay Days again this year with our Supertrax and Snowtrax TV display but we’re on a mission while in attendance at the sport’s largest, premiere kick-off show, swap meet and grass drags.

Seems Luke and AJ Lester will be looking for a good, used Yamaha SnoScoot this year with Luke a new father since March and AJ waiting for the arrival of his first the end of September.

Hopefully, there may be a project Sno-Scoot in the SnowTrax Television Trail Tech Shop before the snow flies!

Stay tuned and be sure to drop by our booth this coming weekend and say hello!

If you have any leads on a SnoScoot for the guys, send us a message here!

Snowmobile EPS Benefits From Yamaha ATVs

0

Yamaha’s development of the EPS system for ATVs has been a huge success and copied widely in that industry.

Since the company was first to market it on 4-wheelers, it seemed a logical progression for the engineers to add it to a sled.

The fact is, the idea was presented to the inner sanctum of Yamaha product people several years ago but was shelved to make way for other projects.

It wasn’t until the unparalleled success of the EPS system on ATVs was firmly established that the brass gave the nod to adding the technology to the Apex last year.

Turns out, EPS has been a revolution for Yamaha and makes a substantial improvement in the way the Apex handles.

If you’ve been a Supertrax reader very long you know we’ve harped unrepentantly about the darting issues all Yamaha snowmobiles have struggled with this decade.

For several years we’ve been recommending owners change either the stock skis on their Vector, Apex, Nytro and Phazer models to less aggressive aftermarket units or go to a dual carbide skag setup to get a handling improvement and reduce the tendency of the skis to react to ruts in hard-packed snow, making them twitch right and left.

Yamaha had not been ignoring the issue but was working on methods to improve the handling while skirting legal issues on about a bi-jillion ski patents existing in the industry.

The engineers feel EPS is not a mere band-aid solution to a problem that has existed but constitutes a change in direction for snowmobile design.

Keep in mind, EPS has become the single most desirable feature on an ATV and nearly every major manufacturer in that business now offers a comparable version of it.

Why Polaris Stretched the RUSH

0

The worst kept secret last fall was the potential for Polaris to stretch out the Pro-Ride RUSH platform and in doing so re-invent the popular Switchback 136 formerly planted in the IQ chassis.

When we first laid eyes on the new 136 Pro-Ride Switchback we had to squint a few times to understand how Polaris had accomplished the inclusion of an external shock system with a 136-inch skid.

Simply put, the Roseau braintrust did not do the simple thing and extend the rails, simply keeping the Pro-Ride’s external shock in the same position under the seat.

Instead, they actually inserted seven inches of length in the chassis and mid-way down the rails, effectively moving the Pro-Ride shock rearward, out from under the seat, while keeping the rear cantilever system located in the same position as it is on the 121-inch Pro-Ride RUSH.

The “over structure” holding the upper rear shock mount is now significantly longer. This mid-chassis lengthening provided some distinct advantages for the re-packaging of the Pro-Ride system.

Very important was the ability to extend the running boards without creating interference with the shock leverage system.

The execution of the stretched chassis has accomplished this nicely allowing boondockers an effective place to plant their feet when sidehilling or powder hooking.

A side benefit of the Pro-Ride architecture when melded into a 136-inch platform is the sled’s ability to dig into snow before getting hung-up on the running boards.

Since there’s no unnecessary extra running board material extending to the rear of the sled the naked Pro-Ride can now dig deep into fluff and keep the Switchback moving.

We experienced this trait in Togwottee, Montana in January and can verify the Pro-Ride 136 likes deep snow.
