FXR LEARN 2 RIDE CLINIC BRINGS STUDENTS AND PRO-RACERS TOGETHER

Elk River, Minn. January 9, 2019 – More than 40 youth snocross riders and over 15 of today’s most respected and fastest professional racers came together for the FXR Learn 2 Ride Clinic at ERX Motor Park in Elk River, Minnesota during the 2018 holiday break. The FXR clinic plays an instrumental role in the future of snowmobile racing and the sport in general as students learn how to become better racers on and off the track from their peers and heroes.

This year marked the 10th anniversary of the clinic, and many of the coaches were former students of the program illustrating the event’s ongoing success. This year’s coaches included current national racers Kyle Pallin, Evan Daudt, Ryley Bester and Taven Woodie.

“Another great clinic,” said FXR Marketing and Special Projects Manager Doug Rust. “FXR is blessed to be working with such great athletes who are willing to take time out of their schedules during the holidays to give back to this sport. It’s incredibly rewarding experience and we’re honored to be a part of it.”

The FXR Learn 2 Ride Clinic features a day dedicated to 120/200 riders and another for older riders on full-size snowmobiles. Participants are given one-on-one coaching to further refine their skills for different aspects of the track including cornering, jumps and starts. In addition, the coaches and other industry experts share tips and lessons on sportsmanship, promotion, and set-up during brief classroom sessions.

“It (the clinic) was awesome,” said Shawn Peterson, who had two children participating. “We loved how many pro riders were there…they gave great coaching and it was very well organized.”

The clinic also plays an important role ensuring the future vitality of the sport. A message echoed by ERX Motor Park co-owner Chris Carlson.

“FXR gets it,” said Carlson. “They truly care about the future of this sport and its evident by the amount of time and resources they invest into events like this. Their vision and the passion of their riders is what makes the FXR Learn 2 Ride Clinic work.”

FXR and ERX Motor Park would like to give special thanks to all of the coaches who volunteered their time during the clinic: Tausha Lange, Cierra Beckerleg, Taven Woodie, Kaden Woodie, Beau Tibbetts, Johan Lidman, Nisse Kjellström, Brittani Robinson, MaKenna Klieman, Taylor Cole, Andrew Lindholm, Andrew Carlson, Evan Daudt, Kyle Pallin, Dylan Jansen and Ryley Bester.

SKI-DOO RACERS WELCOME THE NEW YEAR WITH CONTINUED SUCCESS

The new year started right where 2018 left off for Ski-Doo X-Team racers as they continued to dominate the Pro podium with five of six positions and both wins at the third stop of the ISOC snocross series in Shakopee Minnesota, just south of Minneapolis. Every Pro race has been won by a Ski-Doo racer this season with Lincoln Lemieux taking his third win of the season Friday night, leading a Ski-Doo podium sweep with Aki Pihlaja and series points leader Elias Ishoel backing him up, then Adam Renheim broke through on Saturday night for his first ever ISOC win. Ishoel finished third Saturday for two podiums on the weekend and keeps himself firmly in the lead for the points championship.

Pro Battles
The exceptionally warm conditions made for challenging races as the track continually deteriorated to one line in key areas with little opportunity to create separation and make passes. Lemieux (Scheuring Speed Sports) made the most of it on Friday as he grabbed the holeshot and checked out on the field without a serious challenge by establishing a small gap early. Behind him the BOSS Racing teammates of Pihlaja and Isohel were fighting towards the front of the pack with creative and aggressive passes showing their desire to catch Lemieux, but by the time they got into podium positions he was gone and the race was complete. Pihlaja was quick all weekend, making this his first trip to the podium, Warnert Racing teammates Adam Renheim and Tim Tremblay came home sixth and seventh.

Saturday was warm again and the sloppy snow created heavy roost and poor visibility for anyone that didn’t grab a holeshot. The start would be extremely important, but Friday’s winner Lemieux took himself out of contention immediately as he jumped the first attempted start and was moved to the back row. After another aborted start and driver penalty, the races launched on the third try with Renheim, Tremblay, Ishoel and Pihlaja all fifth place or further back. While the track lacked passing, it definitely had a rough character – the whoop section demanded the riders double, with anyone trying to triple or missing their double being penalized with a hard landing that stopped momentum instantly. Renheim was able to make some early moves that led him to third – contesting for second – with Tremblay in close pursuit. When the second place sled broke, Renheim had his opportunity to get out of the roost and chase the leader down quickly. Once there he wasted little time in making a pass – but had to give the position back because of a yellow flag – then he reset and made the move for good with two laps to go. The relief of finally collecting an ISOC win for the multi time World Champion was clear on his face afterward – and the Superman he did off the finish line jump put the exclamation on it.

Pro Lite
Max Taillefer grabbed a third-place finish in Pro Lite racing on Friday with Marcus Ogemar finishing just off the podium in fourth. Francis Pelletier had a rough outing as he off loaded hard on a hole that developed through the race finishing 11th. Top finishers Saturday were Hunter Patenaude and Pelletier in fourth and fifth respectively.

Brodeur shows grit
Megan Brodeur seemed to be challenging herself at the storied Canterbury track for Rounds 5 and 6. Friday she was blazingly fast in qualifying, but was late on the throttle for the final finding herself in fifth place after a lap. She fought back to a close second place finish at checkers but was clearly disappointed. When Saturday’s final came she was ready and grabbed an early lead, created a gap, but then fell off on the rough back stretch. She remounted in second and had to make a last lap pass to claim her fourth win of the season.

Sport Riders gaining momentum
Colton Luggert and Brian Peterson had season best races on Friday finishing second and third in the rough and tumble Sport class. Luggert backed up it up with a fifth on Saturday and has moved up significantly in the points standings.

IPONE SNOWMOBILE OIL

0

There’s no doubt about it, the demands placed on powersport engines can be excruciating and the lifeblood keeping them running is oil.

IPONE is a Group 5 ester-based synthetic oil, which is the purest and cleanest burning oil you can use. Ester-based oils are formed during the chemical reaction of colliding organic and alcohol-based atoms together. In turn this creates a complex molecule with less carbon atoms which is also free of the wax (paraffin) commonly found in other petroleum-based oils.

The fewer carbon atoms present, the shorter and stronger the molecule becomes, resulting in a higher flash point producing less smoke and less carbon build-up on exhaust valves.

If you own a 4-stroke snowmobile you know how frustrating it can can be at times to start it in cold weather. Since ester-based oils are attracted to metal surfaces, IPONE literally coats and sticks to engine components like cylinder walls and piston skirts. This means less friction on start up and less dependence on the oil pump delivering the oil.

IPONE oil is not only low viscosity, but it has additives that resist breakdown over time. The result is significantly reduced friction and heat build-up in the engine. In other words, you’ll have an engine that’s working more efficiently and putting more power to the crank.

Whether you ride a 4-stroke or 2-stroke, IPONE has a snowmobile oil for you. The company’s synthetic ester-based racing oils are offered in 0W40 4T Stroke oil blend which is good down to -45°C/-65,2°F and a 2T Stroke injection oil recognized on the trail by its distinguished strawberry scent.

For more information on IPONE’s complete line of lubricants visit https://www.ipone.fr. For Canadian residents, you can buy IPONE at any authorized Parts Canada dealer.

WHAT ABOUT AN INDY 800

0

If you were planning on finding a new Indy with an 850 Patriot under the hood this late in the season: Good luck; they sold-out like Kool-Aid at a Tabasco sauce convention!

The good news is there are still some Indys out there that were likely passed over in the first wave of enthusiasm for Polaris’ new platform. Your new Indy 800 is alive and well at your local dealer and may be waiting for you to make an offer for it.

Granted, the mystique and enthusiasm is smeared all over the 850 Patriot, but the 800 is still a great engine and, in this new chassis, adds up to a very exciting combo.

Fact: The 800 twin was a very strong runner last year in the RUSH and with the added lightness of the Indy and some extra track (the RUSH used a 120-incher and the new Indy has a 129), the combination of traction and power-to-weight is pretty appealing.

The 800 is very fast, is a super-proven entity and has a very good reliability reputation, too. It might also be true there were a number of potential buyers out there who were waiting for a shock-in-skid style sled from Polaris and flat-out don’t care whether it’s the fastest sled in the brochure.

You may be surprised that not everyone who buys a big-inch snowmobile buys it because it’s the most dominant one in the stable. They buy it because of its meaty powerband, strong throttle response in trail situations and don’t care if it gets the checkered flag every time at the end of the lake. Shocking, isn’t it?

That buyer profile actually fits 600cc buyers pretty well. The 800, however, just amps up the fun more – a lot more!
