Issue Surrounding New Yamaha Venture GT

The engine used in the new Luxo-Yam twofer is not the Vector mill and it is not the Nytro mill.

The engine is based on the same triple cylinder platform as both the Veck and the Nytro. However, in Venture trim the mill uses EFI and some interesting cam tuning to pump-up low end squeeze.

This motor is a torque-meister at trail speed and seems perfectly suited to its calling – hauling two people and their gear. However, the engine has imposing top end thrust producing a claimed 126hp, six more than the carbureted Vector engine.

Wouldn’t it make sense for Yamaha to add EFI to the Vector? While they’re at it, why not just stuff this tuned-up version of the triple 1000 into the Vector.

It’s no secret the Vector has been under increasing horsepower pressure from both 2-stroke and 4-stroke competition.

Market May See Direct Injection of Technology

We have it from good sources there will be at least one more manufacturer other than Ski-Doo offering a direct injection 2-stroke by model year 2010.

With DI technology licenses owned by every OEM, we have to think the next DI system we’ll see in the sno-mo-biz will be Mercury Marine’s Orbital technology.

Let’s speculate, shall we? Arctic Cat and Polaris have owned license arrangements with Orbital when both companies produced Personal Watercraft (PWC). In fact, both sledmakers brought direct injection PWCs to the market before exiting that segment of the industry.

Yamaha? Yeah, right – a 2-stroke? Wait a minute… Yamaha has its own proprietary DI system called Yamaha High Pressure Direct Injection (YHPDI) and the system is used in Yamaha V-6 outboards.

Keep in mind Yamaha is a world leader in 4-stroke outboard production but still offers a full line of 2-stroke outboards. Hmm?

World’s Fastest Snowmobile

Press Release –

Team “Lamtrac G-force” shattered the world snowmobile land speed record a few weeks ago with just a single 1000cc engine.

Unable to convince Bonneville Salt Flats authorities to participate in one of their speed events with their snowmobile this past fall, but not giving up they attempted to break the record in Quebec.

September 27th marked a new world record at the international airport in Val-D’or. At the very first attempt, driver Francis Morin directed the G-Force-One down the strip and across the markers to achieve a clock reading of 210.28 mph, 338 kph.

ISR (International Snowmobile Racing) and SCM (Super Compétition Motorisée ) officials were present to confirm the speed record with the chronometer and land markers at mid track.

They also assisted in the removal of the head of the engine to confirm that is was in fact a 1000cc engine.

The main goal of “Lamtrac G-force” is to still participate at the Bonneville speed trials next fall, but with the goal to attain and hold a constant speed of 200 mph down the salt flats.

We will keep you posted with more details and photos of the G-force-One.
