Boyesen RC2 Series Rage Cage

0

PRODUCT INTRODUCTION:

Boyesen Engineering would like to introduce the all-new 2013 RC2 Series Rage Cage, designed to increase overall horsepower and throttle response performance in 2011 – 2013 Ski Doo 800R E-TEC sleds.

The RC2 Series Rage Cage is Boyesen’s new performance intake system designed as a complete bolt-on upgrade. The Race Cage not only increases horsepower and response, but stands as the industry’s only solution to the problem of intake boot deterioration failure.

RAGE CAGE PERFORMANCE:

Each RC2 Series Rage Cage is “Performance Optimized” – tailor made to each sled’s model, year and displacement. While other aftermarket valves might change flange sizes or bolt patterns, they’re basically generic – but with the Rage Cage, there are no compromises in power, and no modifications required to fit the valve while upgrading your sled’s reed intake system. The Result: A true, bolt-on Power Boost specifically made for YOUR Ski Doo 800 E-Tec.

The RC2 Series Rage Cage’s multi-stage reed petal system has been designed to increase throttle response and acceleration, while also broadening peak RPM horsepower output.

The Rage Cage’s seamless, one-piece, precision casting and continuous aero-form surfacing provide maximum flow velocities and instant, explosive movement of air particles the moment you turn the throttle.

Standard equipment on each Rage Cage, are Boyesen’s dual-stage reed petals. The race-proven reed petals are integral in providing the superior ability to maintain timing with the power pulses of the Ski-Doo 800 E-TEC engine platform. Your 800 E-TEC will gain maximum flow velocity across the entire RPM range, and at all throttle settings. Smooth. Sharp. Smart.

The result: Full Spectrum horsepower and lightning –fast response. Independent dyno testing by DynoTech Research shows an immediate horsepower gain of anywhere from 5-10% through the majority of your Ski-Doo 800 E-TEC’s power delivery.

BOYESEN’S TEMPERATURE-CONTROLLED DYNO TESTING:

Rage Cage research and development is performed in dry, cold winter air to get the most out of each performance valve that we create! During the development of our new Ski-Doo E-TEC Rage Cage, Boyesen focused on controlling the ambient temperature conditions by creating dry cold engine intake air with a custom air conditioning system.

Boyesen’s Dyno testing environment uses a custom-built, thermostatically controlled system to the best simulation of winter operating conditions. The result of this process guarantees that Boyesen’s new Ski-Doo Rage Cage offers one of the strongest performance enhancements that E-Tec owners can buy.

RETAIL PRICE:

The manufacturer’s suggested retail price of Boyesen’s Ski-Doo 800 E-Tec RC2 Rage Cage Intake System is $329.95 (USD).
Part Number: RAD88-2 (fits 2011-2013 Ski-Doo 800 E-Tec)

AVAILABILITY:

The Boyesen RC2 Rage Cage system is available at your local dealer or popular web retailers. If your regional dealership has chosen not to stock this product, Boyesen also makes it available for purchase at our webstore.

2013 Polaris 600 IQ Race Sled

0

Polaris snowmobile racers aboard the 2013 Polaris 600 IQ Race Sled will hit the track with increased horsepower from a new engine package that enhances drivers’ ability to grab holeshots and delivers improved performance across the power range.

The 2013 version of the 600 IQ Race Sled also features a redesigned track, enhanced shock adjustability, improved brakes and other changes designed to increase Polaris racers’ competitive advantage.

POWERFUL NEW ENGINE PACKAGE

The new Polaris Liberty 600 engine package in the 600 IQ Race Sled features a re-engineered cylinder head and cylinders that result in significantly increased horsepower over previous iterations of this legendary engine.

“Our new engine package was developed with a focus on improving both snocross and cross-country performance,” said Matt Prusak, Race Program Leader in the Polaris Snowmobile Division. “We’re seeing this engine produce increased horsepower across the entire RPM range. Polaris racers will experience crisper throttle response, improved holeshots and stronger performance all the way across the powerband. There’s a significant increase in power over the 2012 race sled.”

CHASSIS IMPROVEMENTS COMPLIMENT NEW ENGINE PACKAGE

Chassis improvements on the 2013 600 IQ Race Sled include greater adjustability of the sled’s Walker Evans shock package. The 2013 sled has Walker Evans 16-click compression-adjustable shocks all around – in the IFS front end and the front and rear track shocks.

In addition, rebound adjustability was added to the rear track shock to give racers easier on-track tuning. Terrain racers will be able to adjust all four shocks with a clicker to fine-tune their sleds’ performance for each day’s unique track conditions.

A new track that has been in development for several years is being introduced on the 2013 race sled. It provides racers with improved performance in all snow conditions, from sugary snow on bitter cold winter days to wetter, softer snow on early spring race days.

The new 15″-wide track is .25″ wider than on previous race sleds and features a revised lug profile and pattern for improved traction in all snow conditions.

The 2013 race sled is equipped with DP Brakes brake pads, which deliver consistently outstanding performance in all situations, including high-heat conditions that develop in racing. The DP brake pads were developed with extensive input from Polaris factory racers, and they deliver excellent performance with no brake fade when the action heats up.

In response to requests from Polaris racers, the new race sled has a 2″ handlebar riser, down from the 2.5″ riser height of previous race sleds. Prusak said racers asked for a slightly lower bar position to enhance their leverage in corners and position them over the handlebars more than before.

The 2013 Polaris 600 IQ Race Sled was developed as a snocross sled, but it also underwent extensive testing to determine the best setups for cross-country racing. The Polaris Racing Department will provide cross-country racers who compete on this sled with information about recommended setups and shock tuning for the most competitive terrain performance.

2013 600 IQ RACE SLED DETAILS

The 2013 IQ Race Sled is built on the Polaris-exclusive IQ Chassis, which is strong, durable and lightweight. It is built using advanced assembly techniques that minimize the chassis’ part count and optimize strength and reliability.

The IFS has Walker Evans Aluminum IFP (Internal Floating Piston) 16-position compression-adjustable shocks with piggyback reservoirs. The front end has 10.3″ (26.1 cm) of travel.

This same IFS design is available to recreational riders on Polaris RUSH® models built on the PRO-RIDE™ Chassis, and on Switchback models.

The IQ Rear Suspension has a Walker Evans Coil Over Shock as the front track shock, and the rear track shock is a Walker Evans Aluminum IFP 16-position compression- and rebound-adjustable large body shock. The rear suspension has 13.9″ (35.3 cm) of travel.

The new liquid-cooled Polaris Liberty 600 twin features a redesigned cylinder head and cylinders for increased horsepower output. It has twin Mikuni Rack TM 40 carburetors, NiCaSil-lined cylinders for optimized heat dispersion and the Polaris VES (Variable Exhaust System) for outstanding power and instant throttle response.

The power delivery is managed by the legendary Polaris P-85 drive clutch paired with a Lightweight TEAM™ Roller driven clutch.

The reliable liquid-cooled brake package includes a Cyclone master cylinder and lever, Phantom dual-piston caliper and new DP Brakes brake pads.

2012 BEST IN CLASS: BEST 4-STROKE SLED

0

WINNER: YAMAHA APEX

MARK’S TAKE:

This BIC is specifically about power. No use trying to rationalize this award with Kent’s goofy: “Yeah, but it doesn’t handle like the new Cat” argument.

Hello! We’re talking about a superbly executed, incredibly technologically advanced, magnificently designed, perfectly assembled, 4-stroke piece de resistance.

This isn’t about weight. If it was, we’d be talking about the Rotax 4-TEC 1200. The Apex mill spins four rods and four pistons. It’s big, okay Kenny?

Get this straight in your melon: The award is for the best 4-stroke powered sled in the biz. Clearly, the Apex’ 5-valve, 4-cylinder, jackshaft driven, fuel injected, EXXUP controlled exhaust valved, harmonious reactor cast from exotic metals has no equal in the sno-mo-biz.

This 4-stroke produces gobs of unending low-rev grunt that crescendos at a 10,800 rpm shift-speed, 160-plus-hp banshee-wail capable of uniting our collective gearhead hearts in a near hypnotic, drooling epiphany.

In the world of snow vehicles Yamaha owns the 4-stroke heartbeat of snowmobiling.

RUNNER-UP: Arctic Cat ProCross 1100

KENT’S RESPONSE:

Last time I checked, you don]t ride a motor down the trail; you ride a whole snowmobile.

I’ve got to admit, the Apex is a pretty cool package – mostly in the 128-inch version (I’m not crazy about the 144-inch LE) and it does have a sweeter engine than the 1056cc Suzuki twin in the Cat.

Everything stops there, though. Technical wizardry and electronic gizmos do not guarantee greatness. Give me a tight, lithe, chassis that carves apexes (no pun intended) like a Ginsu, and I’m hooked.

The new SnoPro and LXR EFI equipped ProCross Cats are, to my mind, the absolute acme of the 4-stroke snowmobile genre. You can ride these sleds all day long and even the most dedicated 2-stroke owner would have to concede they give up nothing in riding enjoyment, handling and ride to a 2-stroke.

Hey, there’s the weight thing, too. We’ve been ranting about this for years but it’s always been the deal-breaker with 4-stroke sleds. Jump back and forth between the Apex and the ProCross 1100 and there is simply no comparison in the weight department.

Mark, you got your way on this one with pure political clout. Don’t expect it to happen again.
