Polaris Announces New President And COO

Press Release – Polaris Industries Inc announces the appointment of Bennett Morgan as president and chief operating officer, effective immediately.

Morgan, 41, is an eighteen-year veteran of Polaris. Prior to this promotion, he was vice president and general manager responsible for leading the company’s all terrain vehicle division, its largest, for the last four years.

Over his career, Morgan has demonstrated success in a wide variety of sales, marketing, and general management roles, including general manager of the Parts, Garments and Accessories Division.

Morgan is taking over the role of President and COO, a position held by Tiller since 1999, and will be charged with the internal operations of the Company and the day-to-day execution. Tiller, as CEO, will focus on strategic issues, the long term direction of the Company and will continue to be the external voice for Polaris.

The Company indicated that separating the duties of CEO and COO has become a necessary step, in part because the company has nearly doubled in size, is growing its international business very rapidly and is facing a larger and more complex competitive and regulatory environment.

Gen-Y Appeal?

Ski-Doo’s early launch of the 2006 Freestyle has sent serious shock waves through the industry. The idea of building a cheap, low powered snowmobile is not earth shattering news.

Here’s what we think is unique – and important – about the Freestyle. Cheapo sleds don’t sell to people who know snowmobiling. Furthermore, low-cost snowmobiles don’t sell to Gen-Y either. Why? We love bold graphics, big logos and bright colors – red, blue, orange and yellow – with flames and checkered flags. Gen-Y hates that look and prefers beige, bland grey, flat black and pukey green. We love jacked up 4×4’s with big tires and diesel engines. Gen-Y loves Honda Civics with the bumpers dragging on the ground.

The Freestyle is not about the traditional understanding of entry level. In fact, the term “Entry Level” doesn’t apply anymore. The Freestyle is about a new kind of market – a market this sport has been missing. If you think the Freestyle looks different you might want to get used to it.

Martin, Gulla Crowned Champions At Grand Finale

WSA Press Release

The Grand Geneva Spa And Resort played host to the World Snowmobile Association Nielsen Enterprises Grand Finale once again and the 2004-2004 Snocross Worldwide Championship points champions were crowned on a weekend which presented a variety of weather conditions.

Rain early Saturday morning didn’t hurt the huge track the WSA Operations crew had carved out of the hillside at the resort’s Mountain Top ski area, but fog on Saturday made visibility challenging. Sunday dawned partly cloudy and mild, with temps in the mid-30 degree Fahrenheit range and racers as well as fans that turned out in droves for the event welcomed the conditions.
