Tucker Hibbert to take on Eastern Snocross National this weekend in New York

February 13, 2018 – Tucker Hibbert will take on the Eastern Snocross National this weekend in Salamanca, NY. Held a popular gaming and event center next to the Allegany Mountains, it’s the only time this winter Hibbert and the ISOC National Snocross tour will land in the Northeast US.

Hibbert enters this weekend’s event on fire, winning seven of the eight races contested so far this winter. He’s looking to build on his winning momentum as the national series hits the halfway point of its season.

Pro snocross racing action at Seneca Allegany Resort begins Friday at 6 p.m. and repeats Saturday. The races will be streamed live on snocross.com/livestream and delay broadcast on CBS Sports Network. For more information on Hibbert, visit tucker-hibbert.com.

Tucker Hibbert – #68 Monster Energy / Arctic Cat / Ram Truck
Racing at the Eastern National:
“The race in New York is always awesome. It’s our one race in the northeast so the fans are always super excited to come out, cheer us on and watch the races. Over the years, New York has had some of the most wound up fans we’ve seen. It’s always fun to race in front of a crowd with that kind of energy and put on a show for them.”

On track goals and thoughts:
“I’m really excited to get back to racing. We’ve had some time off since the last race, which has been good, but I’m ready to get back to it. This weekend really kicks off the second half of the season and from here on out, it’s going to go quick. We’re in a good position and I feel ready to keep fighting for wins.”

FXR BLADE CARBON RACE DIVISION HELMET

0

FXR’s latest carbon helmet comes with the designation of Race Division being tied to it.

The race track is the place where the highest technology is used to gain advantages on your competition.

In the case of performance riders looking for the ultimate in lightweight protection we all agree FXR’s newest Blade Carbon helmet is victorious.

In what is often sacrificed with other carbon helmets the new Blade Carbon helmet maintains a high degree of comfort with zonal and progressive density padding around your head and cheeks.

The dual density EPS liner protects your head on large impacts and the rear diffuser has been tuned to better transfer load to compatible neck braces.

The quick-release buckle is something we’ve all come to love, not only for its ease of use but also the convenience it provides when wearing thicker gloves.

The hand laid 100% carbon fiber shell helmet weighed in at 2.5 lbs on our scale and the feel when wearing it can best be described as feather light.

One of the areas often not appreciated enough is the peak. A soft rubber bumper is laid across the top peak for protection and durability and significant work went into the shape of the peak with ultra hi-flow cutouts that significantly reduce drag at high speeds while maintaining really good protection from snow and roost.

The front nose also features and extended rubber guard for protection but still maintains plenty of room for goggles with nose peaks and larger breath guards should you choose to not use the supplied breath box.

Changing Mindset Toward Wide Track Sleds

0

Okay, not everybody is going to do backflips over this latest Expedition. However, this 24-inch wide tracked workhorse powered by a 900 ACE does have a very loyal audience who are absolutely pumped about it.

Why? The math involved here using a 156-inch long track that is 4-inches wider than any other utility sled, enables the SWT (Super Wide Track) to float snow better than pretty much any other snowmobile with the exception of a 175-inch pure mountain sled. If you compare ground pressure numbers, the SWT is really pretty amazing considering its size.

That kind of floatation means you can pretty much go anywhere. In high elevation after a nightlong snowfall when the powder is particularly dry and deep, this sled can perform amazingly well in rescue situations.

When it comes to off-trail riding with two onboard and a ton (literally) of gear loaded on it, this sled can target remote locations you’d never dream of stabbing at with a narrower sled.

Here’s something else: The ground is shaking among 2-up riders who want maximum comfort and rideability with a passenger.

It goes this way. If you’re making the commitment to own and ride a 2-upper, you’ve already accepted the fact most of these sleds are bigger, heavier, wider and longer than conventional single passenger sleds.

The fact is, once you’ve made the decision to go 2-up it just isn’t that much of a stretch to move into a sled like the Expedition, Titan, Bearcat or VK Yamaha.

Sure, there was a day when these sleds were severely compromised, but today, that just isn’t the case. These giants ride incredibly well, handle good and most are offered with decent, overachieving power. The additional bonus is limitless space, ample storage and magnificent comfort for two.

The biggest holdback to trail riders is the way they look – and the perception the rider will look awkward on them – not based on fact!

If you ever get a chance to test ride one of these or go on a ride where one is present, you’ll be absolutely in awe at how proficient they are – even compared to a high performance trail sled.

Behind The Scenes: 2019 Polaris INDY EVO

WHY THE INDY EVO IS A GOOD IDEA

0

One of Polaris’ 2019 early-releases showed us a newly-targeted sled called the EVO.

You’ve likely already read a bit about it and know some of its technical details.

For instance, the EVO, built on the Indy 550 platform, sits lower, is a bit narrower and has been ergonomically rearranged with the steering post moved back to accommodate smaller riders more comfortably.

It has a speed-limiter that enables the fully stock 550 to reach a maximum speed of about 50mph – perfect for novice riders. If you want your EVO to go faster, you can take it to your dealer and have an EVOlution kit installed which includes a new CDI and upgraded shocks to gain a top speed of about 70mph.

The EVO is really all-Indy 550. It’s full-sized and uses a 120-inch track, PowerBloc clutching and has the same fan-cooled 550 twin with dual carbs. The base model’s a roper, but there’s an eStart version available, too. It even looks like an Indy 550 – sort of.

Really, there’s no mistaking there’s something different-looking about the EVO, though, but it truly is appealing to smaller-structured riders who may be moving up from a smaller sled like the SnoScoot or the ZR 200.

This stair-stepping of appeal is absolutely critical to the future of snowmobiling. It is and has been totally ridiculous in this industry to expect a young rider to bridge the gap between a 120-sized sled and a full-sized one.

By the time they’re teenagers, kids sometimes just drop out. Unless parents are involved in keeping kids in the sport, they drift off elsewhere – usually with earbuds.

Sleds like the EVO are a brilliant gap filler and can provide first-class riding accommodation for any novice rider and, as their experience grows, can be turned into a fully-powered sled for them.

Does the EVO trump sleds like the SnoScoot and Z 200? Not at all. Rather, it provides the next sled upwards for kids to attain to.
